That Dragon is Defeated

Daily Scripture Threshing for Today, Wednesday, August 19, 2026

Today’s Text: Revelation 12:1–17

Key Verse: Revelation 12:11 (KJV) — “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”

The book of Revelation unveils a great spiritual conflict: the dragon, identified as Satan, stands in fierce opposition to the purposes of God and the people of God. He is pictured as angry, deceptive, accusing, and determined to devour. Yet, for all his rage and schemes, one truth remains certain: that dragon came late, and shall wait in vain. He cannot overturn what God has ordained, destroy those whom God preserves, or cancel the victory secured through the very precious blood of the Lamb.

Yes, he may position himself against your future, your family, your calling, your peace, or your witness. He may attempt to intimidate you through accusation, fear, delay, confusion, temptation, or opposition. But he is not sovereign; only God is. He is a defeated foe, and his power is limited by the authority of the risen Christ. This text reminds us that the saints do not overcome by natural strength, worldly influence, or human determination and strategies. They overcome through the finished work of Jesus, the faithful confession of their testimony, and a devotion to Christ that refuses to surrender.

The blood of the Lamb speaks louder than every accusation of the enemy. When the accuser points to your failures, weaknesses, and past sins, the blood declares that you have been redeemed, forgiven, justified, and brought near to God through Jesus Christ. Your testimony also carries power. Every declaration of what God has done, every confession of faith in His Word, and every witness of His saving grace exposes the lies of darkness. Do not be silent when the enemy tries to make you ashamed. Speak of Christ’s mercy, proclaim His truth, and stand in the victory He has already won.

The dragon’s wrath is real, but it is not final. The enemy may roar, but he cannot rule. He may oppose, but he cannot prevail against the purposes of God. The woman was pursued, but God prepared a place for her. As people of God, we may encounter spiritual warfare, but we are never abandoned in it. The Lord knows how to nourish, protect, strengthen, and preserve His own. What the enemy intended to consume you with will become another occasion for God to reveal His faithfulness.

Today, do not live intimidated by the dragon’s threats. You belong to Jesus Christ. Stand under the covering of His blood, hold firmly to the truth of your testimony, and remain faithful regardless of the cost. The enemy may wait for you to quit, compromise, retreat, or lose heart—but he shall wait in vain. God’s grace is sustaining you, Christ’s victory is covering you, and the purpose of God in your life will not be aborted by the rage of the enemy.

Action Steps: Today, identify one area where you have felt intimidated, accused, or spiritually opposed. Bring it before the Lord in prayer and declare the victory of the blood of Jesus over it. Refuse every voice of condemnation, fear, and defeat by agreeing with what God says about you in His Word. Share a testimony of God’s faithfulness with someone, even if it is a simple reminder of how He has sustained you. Stand firm in faith and obedience, knowing that every scheme of the dragon against God’s purpose in your life shall wait in vain.

Quote for the Day: “The dragon may roar at your destiny, but he cannot rule. The blood of the Lamb has already secured your victory.” — (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)

Let Us Pray: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the victory You have given me through the blood of the Lamb. I praise You because no accusation, threat, or scheme of the enemy can overturn Your purpose for my life. Forgive me for the times I have allowed fear, condemnation, or intimidation to silence my faith. Today, I stand in the authority of Jesus Christ and declare that the dragon shall wait in vain. Cover me with Your grace, strengthen me in spiritual warfare, and help me to hold fast to the word of my testimony. Let my life continually reveal the triumph of Christ over every power of darkness. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen..
