Under His Wings

Daily Scripture Threshing for Sunday, August 1, 2021

Today’s Text: Psalm 91:1-16

Key Verse: Psalm 91:4 (NKJV): “He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.”

I remember watching a desperately hungry hawk hovering to make a prey of some chicks. As I watched, the determined mother hen pulled up a more desperate fight. So, at a corner, I watched how the young brood are hidden away under their mother's wing! I watched how their mother warded off the prawning hawk. And as I watched all the drama, the Holy Spirit brought the image of the divine security that we enjoy as God's dear children to my attention. God was teaching me how ours is a life hidden from strife and danger of Ssatan and the world.

Everyday, we face the raging anger of the devil, who always seeks to steal, kill and destroy; but we are covered and shielded by the hands of the Lord — under the shadow of His very wings. Dear friends, as we begin a new month today, and always, we should rather always desire to be under His wings. Why? It is only there that we get solid protection, and much more. We get the warmth from being close to the beating of God's heart. So, whenever the enemy chases you; make haste to escape to such hiding place. Your soul is both sheltered there. Plus you‘ then feel the warmth of God's love. That is no commonplace at all. Sorry, it is not the house of commons. It is not for any/everybody. It is a place reserved for only those who avail themselves of the secret place of the Most High. The Psalmist made it clear that the position is only far anyone who abides: that is, a believer who is ever trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ for his life. As I welcome you to this new month of August, I dare you to abide and enjoy!

Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you for bringing me to a brand new month. I pray indeed for Your protection as I begin this new month. Be my hiding place, and cause that I will always find refuge under Your wings in Jesus' name. Amen.
