Our Text: 2 Corinthians 6:11-18
Key Verse: 2 Corinthians 6:14 (KJV): "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?”
By all means and standards, God's words forbids formation of intimate associations between God's people and the ungodly. Otherwise, our world will be filled with many more Athaliahs resulting from unholy alliances. But how shall we yield the apostle's warning, and obey God's deuteronomic injunction if we fail to commit our heart to do the right thing, and keep the right company?
How awesome would it be if more believers understand the pains of underestimating evil and flirting with dangerous temptations that expose us to different evils. We are unequally yoked because we fail to recognize the numerous forms of compromise lurking at every corner of life. The children of this world are wise in their evil devices, and God must protect His children--thus, He forbids any alliance that can impose liabilities of misery, loss of peace, loss of holiness, loss of everything most prized once, which follow upon unequal alliances on us.
Quote for the Day: “We are unequally yoked because we fail to recognize the numerous forms of compromise lurking at every corner of life.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your jealousy over me, and your protecting love. Please help me to understand your love, and eschew any form of evil. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
