Daily Scripture Threshing for Friday, January 17, 2020
Today’s Text: Isaiah 40:28-31
Key Verse: Isaiah 40:29 (KJV): ”He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.”
A young man applicant found the advert of a logging company calling for workers who could fall trees with ax. On his interview, he walked over to a tree and fell it like a pro and got hired. On resumption, the young man outdid everyo else on the crew. But, each day after that, he got slower and slower until Friday, when he could barely cut a tree down. He went through all the motions; swinging his ax, hitting the tree and repeating it, but it just didn’t work.
Like, the young man, most of us are physically or spiritually laying down our axes in exhaustion and are wondering what was causing it. We have been so busy over the years swinging our axes but not getting back to resharpen for fresh momentum. So, we have become dull and weary. But, hear this good news: you are not worthless yet. Pilgrims to Zion are often weary because the journey is steep and upward. But our faint hearts beat feebly to the Lord for true strength and sharpening, He always pours forth grace to lift up our heads, revive our souls and release strength for our body.

Prayer: Dear Lord, You are the physician of my soul. Send forth Your healing power to every area of my weariness. Inspire a new strength for me today, in Jesus name. Amen.
