Today’s Text: 1 Kings 5:1-18
Key Verse: 1 Kings 5:4 (NKJV) — “But now the LORD my God has given me rest on every side; there is neither adversary nor evil occurrence."

We belong to the power generation. We all enjoy power messages; and love power services and prayers because we are conscious of the raging battles that surround us. But come with me and let me show you one hidden secret of rest on every side. The kingdom inherited by Solomon when he became king was one surrounded by numerous wars. He grew up in a family ravaged by strife and friction. There was a stern household enmity among his siblings over who would inherit the throne and the power. Solomon was part of the battle. He was not innocent. You can demand the blood of his ambitious half-brother, Adonijah, from his hands. I guess, like us, he had been told that one must draw the sword, shed blood, and make conquest to push back the frontiers of our enemies and carve out a territory for himself.
However, we can learn a legacy different from violence from his pathway to rest on every side. Solomon and all of us need to learn that God’s chosen people do not have to establish ourselves through bloodshed and strife. For though we war, our weapons of war are not carnal. We are under a king, Hs name is Jesus. The way the kingdom rests upon His shoulder is peace. He did not fire a gun or break a reed; yet He conquered the world by being nailed to a cross rather than imposing His will by force. We have a very crucial devotional journey to embark for a couple of days so that we might retrace and discover what changed about Solomon, which shifted the ground from violent consolidation of power into a reign of rest on every side. I am praying God to give you such testimony in our key text. And may you learn early that rest on every side is possible in your life — in/with God alone.
Quote for the Day: “When God appears to someone and waves a blank open check before him; it would take only a Solomon to fill in a value for others." (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: O Lord, teach me the secret of wisdom; and take me to your secret rest room, in Jesus' name. Amen.
Please follow this series and have a blessed week... with all my love and prayer,
