Daily Scripture Threshing for Today,
Texts: Romans 15:8-13
Key Verse: Romans 15:13 (ESV) — “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”
Hope is not wishful thinking; it is confident expectation rooted in God’s character and promises. In a year of waxing very strong, strength without hope becomes heavy and joyless. To wax stronger in hope is to anchor your heart beyond what you see now, into what God has spoken. Hope is the stabilizing rope that keeps you from drifting in storms.
Hope is therefore an anchor for the soul. God, who cannot lie, has bound His promises with an oath so that you can have strong encouragement. Waxing stronger in hope this year means choosing to believe that your future is safer in God’s hands than your past is in your memory. It begins with focusing more on what God can do than on what has gone wrong.
As you feed on His promises, the God of hope will fill you with joy and peace in believing. To wax stronger in hope is to talk like someone who expects God to show up, even when circumstances seem opposite. There are valleys where only hope will keep you from giving up. This year, hope will require you to keep declaring God’s word over your destiny, expecting restoration, new beginnings, and divine surprises.
Be ready to reject hopeless narratives that say “nothing will change.” When disappointments attempt to define you, let God’s promises refine you. When you feel like your heart is sinking, wrap your faith again around your anchor—Christ Himself. Waxing stronger in hope means you become a carrier of encouragement to others, not just a consumer of it.
Action Steps: Today, pause and ask: “Lord, where have I quietly given up hope?” Write down areas—promises, prayers, dreams—you have shelved. Bring them back before God, ask for fresh hope, and write one confession of hope you will speak daily over that area.
Quote for the Day: “Hope is faith stretching into the future. As you anchor your soul in God’s promises, you will wax stronger in joy and refuse to sink.” — (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)
Let Us Pray: Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for being my living hope. Deliver me from despair, cynicism, and unbelief. Fill me with Your joy and peace in believing, and cause me to abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Let my life this year radiate hope to a weary world. In Your mighty name, Lord Jesus, Amen.
