Waxing Stronger in Humility

Daily Scripture Threshing for Today, Tuesday, January 27, 2026

Today's Texts: Philippians 2:5-11

Key Verse: Philippians 2:8 (ESV) — “And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”

Humility in the mind of Christ is the inner posture of knowing exactly who you are before God and choosing the path of servanthood, not self‑promotion. The world sees it as weakness but God's word makes us to understand that it is a mighty strength under God's authority. In a year when we should be waxing very strong, God wants us to beware of pride because it always precedes downfall while humility precedes promotion. To wax stronger in humility is to embrace the path Jesus walked to His highest throne.

Though He was in very nature God, Christ did not cling to His rights, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant and becoming obedient to the point of death on a cross. This humility is not weakness or low self‑worth; it is a willing lowering of oneself in love so that others might be lifted up and God might be glorified. For believers, to have the mind of Christ means embracing that same attitude: refusing selfish ambition, valuing others above ourselves, and living a life of quiet, sacrificial service in everyday relationships.

God exalts the humble but resists the proud. Christ's descent unlocked His ascent. Waxing stronger in humility this year means celebrating others, serving without spotlight, obeying without argument. True greatness bows low first; and true humility grows when ego wants applause. To wax stronger in humility is to make yourself of no reputation like Christ and experience the truth that there are thrones reserved for servants, crowns for the crucified.

This year, your lowliness will lift you higher than pride ever could. For pride only makes you great in your own eyes and debase you in those of others. That is why it is wise to choose Christ's mind when flesh demands recognition and offence tempts retaliation. Waxing stronger in humility positions you for God's unusual lifting. Your servant heart will birth spiritual sons and kingdom increase.

Action Steps: Today, serve someone without expectation of thanks. Wash feet spiritually, and if possible, physically. Meet people's unnoticed (secret) needs. Write "Humility = Exaltation" on your desk, mirror, or wall. Practice Christ's mindset whenever you feel tempted to defend self.

Quote for the Day: "Humility descends to ascend. As you wax stronger in servant-heartedness, God will lift you to thrones of influence." — (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)

Let Us Pray: Dear Lord Jesus, imprint Your humble mind in me. Crucify my pride and self-promotion. Teach me to serve like You served. Exalt me only as You see fit, in Your perfect timing. In Your mighty name, Lord Jesus, Amen.
