Waxing Stronger in Joy

Texts: Nehemiah 8:9-12

Key Verse: Nehemiah 8:10 (ESV) — “The joy of the Lord is your strength.”

Joy is not something equitable with happiness. It is that supernatural surge of strength from God's presence when people grasp God's Word. It is that energy that help us transition from sorrow to celebration. The clause, "the joy of the Lord is your strength" is not describing a fleeting emotion but a deep, abiding sense of purpose and resilience rooted in God's presence and truth.

We are describing the joy that sustains a believer even when he passes through darkest challenges and the very shadows of death. So, God's joy it is that fuels our journey forward till eternity. Brothers and sisters, as we journey through this year of waxing very strong, anchor yourself in God's deepseated joy. Depression will drain your power while God's joy will replenish your reservoirs. There is no better way to wax stronger in joy than to draw daily from the well that never runs dry.

The enemy fights your joy because he wants to weaken your warfare. He knows that God's strength flows where His joy reigns. So, waxing stronger in joy, for us, means choosing rejoicing in that situstion before the resolution. It means praising through our pressure points. Yes, it is the joy of the Lord that positions us for, and with, unusual strength.

True joy helps us smile when issues frown in our faces. It anchors us when circumstances ravages us. To wax stronger in this joy, we must first make the Lord Himself our source, not situations. There are battles won by worship and prayers, but real strength for victories are sealed by joy in storms. I decree and declare thst this year, your joy will confuse hell's strategy.

When sorrow surrounds and sadness attacks, let joy become your defiance, a deliberate stand of faith against every whisper of despair. Waxing stronger in joy marks you as a carrier of heaven's atmosphere, radiating quiet confidence when others expect you to break. This supernatural joy is not denial of pain, but a bold agreement with God’s presence in the midst of it. Your strength will attract the weary and testify of an ever-present God, drawing hungry hearts to the One who sustains you when nothing else makes sense.

Action Steps: Today, play your most anointed worship song that gives you great joy all through the day. Plug it into your earbuds, and dance before the Lord for for as long as you are able regardless of the mood.
