Daily Scripture Threshing for Friday, September 17, 2021
Today’s Text: Isaiah 62:6, 7
Key Verse: Isaiah 62:6 (KJV): “I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence.”
Look around you. Look at our world. Consider the perilous age, and the situation that the Church is in: how lives of men and women give evidence to a troubled world. But God is saying something quite clear in this scripture. He is calling us to the responsibility which rests upon the church. The situation of our world should be sufficient, already, to move our souls to earnest concern. Apart from the global COVID-19 pandemic which has created the greatest financial crisis since the Great Depression, peoples from every nation struggle with different existential pain. No one seems to understand what the future holds. Even America that is perceived to be the world’s superpower and wealthiest nation is facing a staggering high level economic and political decline or shutdown. Twenty years after 9/11, we can't be so sure we are winning the war against terrorism.
Existentialists, psychologists, sociologists, economists, scientists and theologians all agree that the challenges of today’s world are unprecedented, and defiling solution. Why is this so? Today's scripture already says that God positions you and I as the only spiritual solution to the unprecedented problems of the world. God says, he set us up for this purpose. He already knows these days shall come. He told us so. No universal strategic principles for control will change the world. The only promise we may hinge the needed change upon is the promise that He will heal our land on the ground of earnest and constant prayer. Only prayer ends in praise — grumblings and murmuring do not. Therefore, the world need God's people to fill this vacancy. We need God's watchmen to manifest in times like these. We need men and women who will move the hands of God concerning His promises — who will pray day and night, never resting, until the Lord hastens the fulfilmen of His praise in the earth.
Quote for the Day: “The solution to pain is prayer; and yes, the precursor to praise is prayer. Prayer is man’s most enlarging means of grace.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, fuel my heart with the fire to pray. Send your genuine divine revival to the church, O Lord, and let it begin in me, in Jesus' name. Amen
I personally look forward to seeing you to join our you in tonight's special Interdenominational Prayer Vigil. Starting by 9.00 pm CST (3.00 am Nigeria or UK) today, Friday, Sept 17 2021. It's going to be 3.00am Saturday in Nigeria and UK.
