Where Are You?

Daily Scripture Threshing for Today, Thursday, May 22, 2025

Today's Text: Genesis 3:8-10

Key Verse: Genesis 3:9 (NIV): "But the Lord God called to the man, 'Where are you?'"

Just as a loving parent calls out for a lost child, God’s unfailing love reaches out to lost humanity in our lowest moments, even when sin hides and deprives us. The question "Where are you?" is not born of ignorance on God's part, but rather of a profound desire for reconciliation and restoration. It is a tender invitation to step out of the shadows of guilt and shame and back into the light of His presence. Sin is always a thick fog. It always obscures our view of God and His grace. That's the enemy's intention: to lead us to believe we are beyond hope or reach. But, God’s love is relentless; it pursues us even when we try to hide. He knows our vulnerabilities, our fears, and the very depths of our struggles, yet His love for us remains steadfast and unchanging.

This divine love call still echoes through histories to us today, calling each of us to examine our own lives. Are you hiding from God because of your mistakes, your failures, or your perceived unworthiness? Are you allowing the enemy to whisper lies that separate you from God's loving embrace? God's desire is not to condemn, but to redeem. His question is an outstretched hand, a lifeline offered in our moment of need. Just as a shepherd searches tirelessly for a lost sheep, God tirelessly seeks us out, longing to bring us back into His fold. Please remember this: His love is greater than any sin, and His grace is sufficient to cover all our shortcomings. However, humility and repentance remain the keys to responding to His call, allowing His love to penetrate the darkness and bring us home.

Action Steps: Reflect on areas where your decision might be hiding you from God. Confess and turn away from any sin or shame that is keeping you from His presence. Respond to God's loving call by drawing near to Him in prayer and meditation. Trust in His unfailing love to meet you in your lowest moment.

Quote for the Day: "God's 'Where are you?' is not because zGod is ignorant but because man must turn around. It's not a question of location, but an invitation to restoration." (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)

Let Us Pray: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unfailing love that relentlessly pursues us even when our sins hide us. Forgive us for the times we have allowed our lusts to separate us from Your presence. Help us to hear Your loving call, and to respond with humility and repentance. Restore us to Your embrace and lead us back into the light of Your grace — in Jesus's most glorious name. Amen.
