Today’s Text: Matthew 24:15-28
Key Verse: Matthew 24:20 (ESV): “Pray that your flight may not be in winter or on a Sabbath.”

We live in difficult days. Every sign and evidence point us to the last days. The news are bad. Political scenes are toxic. So called Christians are living hateful and unthankful lifestyles. And more people show signs that point to all the facts of earth’s final days. I took a walk on my street today and it feels totally different. It was the same street I have lived in and known; but it now looked like an angel city. As I walked along the deserted ice-covered road, I remembered Christ’s admonition for us to pray that our flight be not in winter.
First, we must understand that prayer is the only sure mitigation to the dangers of these inevitable perilous days. Each passing day is a spiritual winter alert for Christians. We must pray without ceasing especially when we already know that these days are more evil than ever, and our cities are almost turned into death traps. Winter is inevitable. But we can determined what happens to us through the power of prayer.
We can prayer so that we are not exposed to the dangers of the season: When not only are our weather inclement; but even the things we consider our greatest comforts are turning around to be our greatest burdens. We need to trustfully pray the Lord to deliver us from the hour of evil. We need prayer to overcome the perils of the last days. By prayer, we can survive all inclement weather. We can pave a straight and safe path from roads that are ordinarily not passable. By prayer we can escape evil days.
Quote for the Day: “These are days to be more vigilant in prayer. When situations are too much to bear, prayers moves us in the side of victory. A call to prayer is like a spiritual winter alert.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, You are my refuge and my strength, my ever-present help in times of trouble. When the world appears to be crumbling around me and I buffeted by storms, please take hold of my hands and walk me through — in Jesus Christ's name. Amen.
I wish you a happy new month with all my love and prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
