Our Text: Philippians 2:1-13
Key Verses: Philippians 2:3 (KJV): “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or empty pride, but in humility consider others more important than yourselves.”
A mother was preparing pancakes for her two children: Bukky, a 5 year old, and Becky, 3. The two began to argue over who would get the first pancake. Their mother thought it was an opportunity to teach a moral lesson. So she said, "If Jesus were sitting here, He would say, I’ll let you have the first pancake; I can wait." At this, Bukky told his younger sister, "Becky, you, be Jesus!"
Sincere love and brotherly affection has become so accusative in our days. Everyone is looking for others that will pay the price for them. Selfishness has eaten the fabrics of our society, fellowship and families. However, today’s scripture emphasizes what would logically result if we shunned selfishness—nothing will be done in “strife,” and each will esteem others better than himself. Except believers live in such unaffected simplicity and humility, how shall the world see Jesus in us. Well, you and I can be Jesus!
Quote for the Day: "There’s nothing more precursory to follies among men than selfish pursuit of vain-glory, and personal vanity.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Lord Jesus, please guide me in a plain path of righteousness and help me to be like you. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
