Daily Scripture Threshing for Friday, November 12, 2022
Today’s Text: Isaiah 9:1–7
Key Verse: Isaiah 9:7 (LEB): “His dominion will grow continually, and to peace there will be no end on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and sustain it
with justice and righteousness now and forever. The zeal of Yahweh of hosts will do this.”
The prophet Isaiah saw dark days on Israel’s horizon; but he also saw something deeper, and better. God’s is zealous about his people. And, by that zeal, he is causing a new thing. The prophet saw a vision which pierced through all darkness, hardship, punishment, and oppression. He saw a time of glorious deliverance and abundant hope coming for Zion — a hope that would dawn when a newborn child is revealed.
The hope of all Israel is in the promised Messiah. Regardless of the fact of darkness in your life and age, God has an unstoppable zeal for His people. There is the Son of Light that has been given unto us, the One upon whose shoulders the government rests — a government of wonder, counsel, might and peace. Darkness has no more hold upon you as long as the mighty God, the everlasting One is your Father.
The prophet foretold a peace that surpasses all human comprehension because He is the Prince of Peace. He is zealous towards Zion. Everything shall end, including all suppression, oppression, repression and obsession caused by darkness; but of the greatness of his government and peace, there will be no end. He will reign in that situation, and with His zeal, He shall accomplish all these.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for being so mindful of me. By your zeal, save me, keep me from evil, rescue me from all life’s battle — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
