A Conscience Sprinkled and Clean

Daily Scripture Threshing for Tuesday, June 22, 2021

Today’s Text: Hebrews 10:19-22

Key Verse: Hebrews 10:22 (KJV): “”Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.”

The sacrifice of Christ met us in our fractured human form. We were all totally depraved in and out But through His atonement, Jsus Christ paved a totally new way for all of us. Before we met Jesus, we lived under seared consciences: we were foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures. We were living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. In the overall, it was impossible for us to retain God in our consciences. But we have now been brought into a new and living way. Yes, “new way” because it is different from the ways we used to walk in. And it is also a “living way” because while our old life leads to weariness, emptiness, lostness and dead; the pathway of Christ gives life to them who walk in it. The more we walk it, the more brightened, strengthened, enlivened and delighted.

The only one call is for us to imbibe the culture of this living way. We myst allow the living Savior and Lord to sprinkle His sanctifying word on our hearts We mustlet Him free us from our old ways. We are to follow Jesus: of which we can not go wrong. Following Him purges out any evil conscience, which attracts all.natural lusts. As naturalmen, we followed our natural conscience like a person following a wheelbarrow, who directs it wherever he wants it to go, and then follow behind. Not any more so with us. Now, we let the Holy Spirit clean us from evil conscience. The whole idea of this meditation is that there is a required priestly character for those who are in Christ. It is a product of a purified conscience. Believers’ primary mark of being filled with the Holy Spirit, or His baptism is not primarily the gift of tongues as some teach; but it is the manifestation of new life of purity and self control. It is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Prayer: O Lord, I want to lay before you all that weighs heavy on my heart. Please cause Your word to reveal even the sin I am not aware of; and sanctify me by your word, in Jesus' name. Amen.
