A New Cruse

Daily Scripture Threshing for Thursday, April 9, 2020

Today’s Text:  2 Kings 2:19-22

Key Verse: 2 Kings 2:19 (NIV): “The people of the city said to Elisha, "Look, our lord, this town is well situated, as you can see, but the water is bad and the land is unproductive.

Whenever man needs God to do something, He always needs him to do something. God’s servant asked for a cruse—a vessel—but a new one it must be because only uncontaminated instruments may be employed by God to heal man’s spring of corruption.

The city of Jericho represents our present foul age that’s so blessed yet have almost totally turned its own blessing into a curse. The "new cruse" stands for a new heart with which God requires us to return. The "salt" symbolizes the word of God. The corrupt spring represents sin.

We cannot have a clean age except we approach God with a new heart. We cannot have a new heart except we allow the incorruptible word of God. There’s no natural virtue or effort that can heal the spiritual ill-health of this generation, what we all need is a return to God with clean hearts.

Quote for the Day: "God can use any means but throughout His entire scheme, He never uses impure means.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Dear Lord, by the power of Your Holy Spirit, please enable me to present myself clean before You so that I may be Your healing vessel to my generation, in Jesus Name. Amen.

With all my love and prayer,

Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, PhD
