Daily Scripture Threshing for Monday, April 11, 2022
Today’s Text: Mark 11:15–12
Key Verse: Mark 11:15 (ESV): “And they came to Jerusalem. And he entered the temple and began to drive out those who sold and those who bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons.”
On His way to Jerusalem, Jesus cursed a fig tree that had failed to bear fruits: a spiritual antitype of the judgment of God on the spiritually dead people of God, and their religious leaders. He was on a mission to purge the land, His people and the church. A true and genuine religion is not about outward prosperity or piety; and must never be seasonal. As God’s people, we are called to a life of all-time true, living and exemplary faith that bears desired and abiding fruits — Fruits that may be seen by all men to the effect that the name of our father in heaven is glorified. The same reason, He (Christ)
overturned their Temple’s corrupt protocols and tables. God’s purpose is for His house to be a house of prayer for all peoples. How come it has been turned into a den of robbers. Brethren, it is a high time we purge. It is important to Jesus that we get rid of all hindrances to true and perfect worship. We all hold certain things very special and dear that we would not want defiled, misused or abused. God holds his name and house so dearly and does not want them defiled. Therefore, as we reflect on the import of Christ’s entrance into Jerusalem and the Temple, let us be purged of anything that defiles our spirit and worship.
Quote for the Day: “Christ’s cleansing of the Temple is a spiritual call to live clear of unfruitful works that hinder genuine worship’.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, please hear my prayers this day. Give me integrity in leadership, honesty in business, honor in relationships and genuineness in worship: so that I may not bring any tarnish to your name — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
With all my Love and Prayers,
