Daily Scripture Threshing for Today, Friday, November 28, 2025
Today’s Text: Psalm 103:1-5; Luke 17:11-19
Key Verse: Psalm 103:2 (KJV): “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.”
Yesterday, many gathered around tables, shared meals, laughter, and testimonies. I kinda missed that this year, but I'm grateful it found me inside our church artic volunteering to channel all the cables for out sound qnd visuals. Well, today, the second day of celebration, when noise has quieted, we must remember all we have learnt throughout the month. True thanksgiving is tested in the ordinary. Post-Thanksgiving day is where thanksgiving must fade as an event and matures into a lifestyle, a deliberate decision to remember and to return like the one leper who came back to give thanks.
David teaches us to command or demand our soul to bless the Lord and not forget, because the human heart easily drifts into entitlement and amnesia after the celebration. The one Samaritan leper shows that the real miracle is not just cleansing, but the wholeness that comes when we turn back to the Giver with intentional gratitude. Today, God is inviting us to move from a date on the calendar to a posture of the heart that keeps saying thank You after the turkey is packed away and the guests and family have returned to base.
So, how do we live post-Thanksgiving gratitude? First, by remembering specific benefits: forgiveness received, healings experienced, dangers averted, provisions supplied, and mercies seen and unseen. Second, by returning daily—through prayer, worship, obedience, and generosity—to lay our thanks at His feet, not only when the nation declares a holiday, but when no one is watching and no one is posting. Third, by letting gratitude shape our attitude: softening our words, sweetening our relationships, and fueling fresh faith for what lies ahead.
Action Steps: Today, choose to be the one who returns after the feast—who looks back over the year and says, “Lord, I remember, and I return with thanks.” Let your post-Thanksgiving Friday become the first day of a new cycle of remembrance, praise, and surrendered living, where every ordinary moment turns into an altar of gratitude. Let's do it!
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, today I return with thanks. You have loaded my life with benefits, many of which I did not see, understand, or deserve. Forgive me for every time I enjoyed the blessing and forgot the Blesser. Like David, teach my soul to bless You continually; like the one leper, help me to turn back quickly with a loud and sincere thanksgiving. Let this post-Thanksgiving season usher me into a lifestyle of remembrance, gratitude, obedience, and worship. Make my life a daily testimony that You are good and Your mercy endures forever. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
