Daily Scripture Threshing for Today, Thursday, January 15, 2026.
Texts: Hebrews 12:1–3
Key Verse: Hebrews 12:1 (ESV) — “Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.”
Endurance is not stubbornness; it is grace-powered perseverance in the will of God. In a year of waxing very strong, strength without endurance becomes a sprint that never finishes. To wax stronger in endurance is to refuse to quit when the journey gets long, the answers seem delayed, or the opposition increases. Endurance is the ability to stay under the weight God allows, without throwing away your confidence.
Endurance is therefore the fruit of fixing your eyes on Jesus rather than on circumstances. God’s call to run with endurance assumes there will be weights, sins to lay aside, and obstacles on the track. Waxing stronger in endurance this year means accepting that the Christian life is not a 100-meter dash but a marathon. It begins with a decision: “I will not give up on God, His promises, or His process.”
As you meditate on Christ’s endurance—who endured the cross and hostility—you will find perspective for your trials. To wax stronger in endurance is to let trials mature you instead of embitter you. There are tests designed not to destroy you but to develop patience, depth, and stability. This year, endurance will require you to keep praying when answers delay, keep serving when results seem small, and keep believing when feelings fluctuate. These are not wasted seasons; they are training grounds.
Be ready to shed unnecessary weights—distractions, complaints, comparisons—that slow your race. When discouragement whispers that quitting is easier, remember the joy set before you. When you feel faint, look again to Jesus, draw strength from His example, and lean into the comfort of the Holy Spirit. Waxing stronger in endurance means shorter seasons of spiritual fatigue and a deeper resilience in trials.
Action Steps: Today, pause and ask: “Lord, in what area of my life am I tempted to give up or slow down?” Write it down—family, ministry, career, health. Surrender that area afresh to God, and declare by faith that you will run with endurance. Choose one small, consistent action that keeps you moving forward.
Quote for the Day: “Endurance is strength that refuses to resign. As you keep your eyes on Jesus in every storm, you will wax stronger and finish your race with joy.” — (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)
Let Us Pray: Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for enduring the cross for my sake. Strengthen my heart to keep running my race. Deliver me from weariness, despair, and spiritual laziness. Let trials produce in me patience, character, and hope, and may I finish this year stronger than I began. In Your mighty name, Lord Jesus, Amen.
