Abiding Satisfaction

Daily Scripture Threshing for Monday, May 23, 2022

Today Text: Psalm 90:1-17

Key Verse: Psalm 90:14 (ESV): “Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.”

Our new life in Christ does not only usher us into an entirely new terrain of life, it closes the doors of the past. God finds us all messed up; but by His blood of eternal covenant brought a new order of life. Now we are brought to a new dawn of new hope and courage; and the night of affliction is ended. It is morning for all who comes to Christ. All our nights of gloom and slavery to sin are over. New life has come. We can only bask in our right to God’s daily satisfaction with the mercy of God.

The allusion of the Psalmist to "in the morning" suggests the constancy and regularity of God’s faithful love towards us. He satisfies us as soon as the day dawns. Perhaps, there are shades of affliction or persecution here and there, which represents the night. Perhaps, weeping may endure for the night; our joy is that as soon as light of the morning shines; so early, God bestows His mercy and joy to shine again and again upon us. He does this for us so that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

Prayer: Dear Lord, You, alone, can satisfy the longings of our hearts, and we will not know true satisfaction until we are in Your presence. Please satisfy us early, O Lord — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
