All that God Requires is Faith

Daily Scripture Threshing for Wednesday, June 8, 2022

Today’s Text: Matthew 8: 1-4

Key Verse: Matthew 8:2 (NIV): “A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”

We all always want something from God. And, no doubt, in His character, He is more willing and ready to lavish whatever we need. But where the clog is mostly is our ability to connect God through living, active, and saving faith that sees possibility through Christ, the great and mighty God. To connect the next level spiritual realm of possibilities and supernatural, each of us must realign and renew our faith walk with God. The Bible describes faith as confidence in what we hope for and assurance of what we do not see. Yes, when we demonstrate undaunted trust in the unseen God; that is faith. It takes faith to assure us that God’s loves is true and perfect. It takes faith to believe the Word of God, and move us to genuine pursuit of God.

So much to learn from this leprous fellow. Nothing should even push you back. While other lepers of his days would hide in creeks and colonies, his faith would move him to come boldly before Jesus. Never let anything hold you back from taking that step of faith. He saw more than a savior. He saw Him as Lord, and came kneeling before Him and addressing Him as Lord. Worship must be genuine and must precede petition. God requires true faith that references Him, and never thinks meanly of Christ. True faith always sets the platform for every divine encounter because it already prepares us to see in Christ the Rewarder of them that seek Him. Faith’s confession is not “if you can,” it is, “if you are willing. Often, we let the devil stop us in the name of lamentable condition. But, here, a leper sets an example that true faith always connects and positions us to receive.

Quote for the Day: “God is not surprised or disappointed by our doubts and fears. He knows our frame; but He wants us to overcome our fears by faith and our doubts by hope.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Dear Lord, please open my eyes, not to see the world and my situation more clearly than I see You at work. Strengthen my faith to connect You every day and situation of my life — in Jesus’ name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,
