Today’s Text: Proverbs 28:1-5
Key Verse: Proverbs 28:1 (ESV): “The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.”

Throughout all history, courage has always been a mark of honor while cowardice is considered proof of baseness. The same is true in the spiritual realm: people who walk honorably are never known to live in cowardice. That is the message of this scripture text to all believers. Righteous living makes people enjoy the nobility of courage. Timidity is not consistent with Christian living because there is nothing to hide or anything odious. Only men of vile and contemptible character are slaves of fear. There is a popular aphorism among the Yoruba people of Nigeria, West Africa; “Anyone that has nothing to hide is always brave, firm and tranquil, having no need to watch the fence.”
Today’s scripture is an admonition to be bold. And it comes forth with a direct assumption of what it takes to live boldly. Except we get rid of issues in our lives that robs us of the confidence to be real master of ourselves, we may continue to slip into sin-imposed cowardice. No one takes the honors of courage who walks in shady or shoddy life. When conscience is injured and weakened by hypocrisy and secrecy; the whole personality of the person is conditioned to torture and affliction of fear — of exposure, detection, and consequences. The influence of sin in any life is so powerful that it can make the bravest man a most freaky coward. It imposes a sense of divine displeasure and darkness so much that you can begin to shun or dodge lights for the fear of being exposed.
Quote for the Day: “We can be bold if we live in such a way that we have nothing to be ashamed of, or have to dread detection or exposure.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, I pray for courage to walk in Your light and plans. Keep me close so I may step out in faith and not let fear rob me of the blessings that you have for me— in Jesus’ name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
