Be Seasoned

Daily Scripture Threshing for Today, Monday, March 30, 2026

Today’s Text: Colossians 4:2–6

Key Verse: “Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.” — Colossians 4:6 (KJV)

To be seasoned is to be shaped by grace until your life carries flavor, wisdom, and restraint. A seasoned believer is not bland, bitter, or reckless, but Spirit-taught, spiritually mature, and capable of bringing healing instead of harm. Paul’s instruction to the Colossians shows that our words matter deeply: speech seasoned with salt is speech that preserves, purifies, and blesses. It is not careless speech, harsh speech, or self-serving speech, but speech that reflects Christ in both truth and tone.

Jesus also said, “Every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt” (Mark 9:49). That means seasoning is not accidental; it is often produced through trials, discipline, and the refining work of God. The Lord seasons His people through life’s fire so that they do not remain raw in their reactions, immature in their responses, or unguarded in their conduct. Seasoning gives balance. It teaches us when to speak and when to be silent, when to correct and when to comfort, when to stand firm and when to yield in love.

To be seasoned is also to become useful in the hands of God. Salt without savor is disappointing, but a seasoned life becomes a blessing wherever it goes. A seasoned Christian brings peace into tension, wisdom into confusion, and grace into wounded places. In a world filled with noise, offense, and quick reactions, God is looking for people whose hearts have been tenderized by His Spirit and whose mouths are governed by His wisdom. Such people know how to answer every man with gentleness, dignity, and truth.

Action Steps: Today, ask the Holy Spirit to season your heart, your words, and your reactions. Before you speak, pause and ask whether your words will heal, help, and honor Christ. Let your conversation be marked by grace, and let your conduct show spiritual maturity. Receive the fires of life as God’s way of preparing you, not destroying you. And wherever you go today, carry the salt of heaven—quiet strength, holy wisdom, and Christlike love.

Quote for the Day: “A seasoned believer brings flavor without noise, wisdom without pride, and grace without compromise.” — (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)

Let Us Pray: Heavenly Father, season my life by Your Word and Spirit. Purify my heart, refine my speech, and teach me to walk in wisdom and grace. Let my words preserve, heal, and build up those around me. Deliver me from careless reactions and unhelpful speech, and make me a vessel full of the beauty of Christ. May my life carry the salt of heaven and the fragrance of Your presence. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
