Called to Be Exemplary

Daily Scripture Threshing for Friday, June 5, 2020

Today’s Text: 1 Timothy 4:11-16

Key Verse: 1 Timothy 4:12 (ESV): “Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.”

Christian The Tenth was king of Denmark when Nazi occupied his country during the World War II. He resented Nazi’s flag flying over a Danish public building, and demanded that the German commandant take it down at once but the commandant refused. “Then a soldier will go and take it down." Said Christian. “Dont waste your soldier’s life! Threatened the commandant. But "I think not," replied the king Christian, "for I shall be that soldier." Within minutes the flag was taken down. 

Today’s message is an encouragement to be exemplary and step out as godly models in our world. Lifestyle witnessing is always more forcible than using words. So many are ready to issue instructions on what other men should do but who are not ready to be that man. If people are to choose between what you say and do to make salvation decision, how many will come to repentance because of our preaching?! It is not easy to despise a man of example. That’s why the noblest and novel way to preach is by lifestyle. Let us strive to be exemplary in speech, conduct, love, faith, conversation and purity. Let us see you be that fearless Christian soldier. Let us see you be the man.
