Today’s Text: Romans 14:10-23
Key Verse: Romans 14:19 (NIV) — “Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.“

As we reflect on these words of Apostle Paul, we are called to make every efforts to pursue whatever makes for peace. With Paul’s words in mind, let us learn from the story of James Fantroy. James was convicted for stealing over $20,000 of government grants while serving Dallas City Council. However, due to his health condition, The District Judge Ed Kinkeade kindly ruled that he could choose between serving a month in prison or publicly apologizing for his actions. But rather than choosing to apologize, Fantroy chose to serve the prison sentence.
Today's text is an admonition on how we ought to pursue pathways that lead to peace. And there is no better way than to follow the model of our Lord Jesus Christ. We must be kind, loving, humble, and respectful, gentle and genuine. We must be gracious in all situations: whether we are wrong, or wronged. Living gracious in the spirit of Christ is what makes for true peace. Unfortunately, like Mr. James Fantroy, we often choose to harbor bitter feelings or resentment towards others, thinking we are paying them in their own coins, but in reality we are choosing to be prisoners rather than peacemakers.
Quote for the Day: “People will upset and offend us. Circumstances will frustrate and crush our spirit; but our reaction to these things matters more. We already trust that what Jesus would do or say will definitely make all the difference.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Gentle Savior, help me to always let your the same mind be in me that is also in Jesus Christ my Lord. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, PhD
