Daily Scripture Threshing for Monday, August 2, 2021
Today’s Text: 1 Corinthians 10:6-13
Key Verse: 1 Corinthians 10:13 (ESV): “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.”
The poetry of Mark Twain thrilled me a great deal. But it also drew a great attention on the common nature of human ordeals. The poem goes as follows:
There was a very cautious man
Who never laughed or played;
He never risked, he never tried,
He never sang or prayed.
And when he one day passed away
His insurance was denied;
For since he never really lived,
They claimed he never died!
Anyone who goes through life and is not touched by the wind of times is not really alive. Pain and difficulties are common to all men. No matter your situation, you are not alone. Let this scripture be a consolation to you while passing through difficulty times. Always remember that our Saviour understands your pain because He has felt them all! God's Word tells us that our Lord Jesus Christ is touched by the feelings of our infirmities, having gone through the flesh and was moved by all kinds of passions as we. Today's text suggests comfort in the fact that there are others who have known the same sorrow as you are presently feeling, and have been enabled by God's grace to bear it, and/or have profited by it. The same grace is available to you. Be confident in the fact that nothing has come to you, and nothing shall come to you, but that which is common to men, that which has been shared by better men, and that which God has already made a way of escape for you.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I need your strength each day. I depend on you to give me grace and see me through difficult times, in Jesus' name. Amen.
