Daring to Go

Daily Scripture Threshing for Saturday, December 11, 2021

Today’s Text: Esther 4:12–17

Key Verse: Esther 4:16 (ESV): “Go, gather all the Jews to be found in Susa, and hold a fast on my behalf, and do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my young women will also fast as you do. Then I will go to the king, though it is against the law, and if I perish, I perish.”

The natural instinct of every human is to shrink back in the face of danger, peril or loss. We have all learned about the hormone that helps us fight or fly. However, for the Christians—especially when the cause of Christ and His kingdom demand it—we are called to an uncommon Christlike example that dares us take up our cross daily, and follow Him. Esther, the Jewish queen of Persian king Ahasuerus, was not a Christian; but as a Jew, her faith in the Lord God of Israel can dare the devil. In this text, and throughput the biblical book named after her, Esther demonstrates a daring faith by which she risked her life for the sake of her people.

She said: “ I will go to the king, though it is against the law, and if I perish, I perish.Daring to take a stand is such a difficult thing to do today. For us, the consequences may not even be as fatal, yet we cannot dare to risk our reputation. We cannot dare to be persecuted. We cannot dare to be different. Many Christians would not mind to wear a crown, but they careless about it as far as such crown comes with a cross. They would rather not risk their ease, safety, interest, public good, and gain. They cannot dare to be an Esther. Going to the courts of the king today may be taking a stand for the gospel in this untoward generation. We all need the courage to live according to gospel standards. We need the courage to fulfill the great commission. We need the courage to be the light of the world.

Quote for the Day: “Our duty to God and His kingdom dares us to always take a stand. It dares us go unto all nations. It dares us go whether it feels safe or not.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for such precious example of strength and courage from Your Word. Please give me a heart for You, your kingdom and Your people, that is willing to take a stand for You, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

I wish you all a fabulous Saturday morning with all my love and prayers,
