Deeper in Fruitfulness

Daily Scripture Threshing for Today, Wednesday, February 11, 2026

Today’s Text: John 15:1–8

Key Verse: John 15:5 (ESV) — “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”

God does not call us to a life of empty religious motion but to a life that bears lasting fruit—fruit in character, in influence, and in impact for His Kingdom. He does not say, "apart from my doctrine ye can do nothing;" important though, it is, that we should receive and understand His truth. Also, He doesn't say, "apart from Church membership you can do nothing;" though, if we understand what "church" truly means, this would be true. But wgat He says is, "Apart from me."

Christ is, therefore, of no doubt, Himself everything to His people. He is the Power, the Wisdom, the Salvation, of God, and if, by any means, we are removed from Him, then we are rendered poor, powerless and fruitless. In today's text, He reveals the secret of true fruitfulness in three words: "abide in Me." We are branches; He is the Vine. Our role is not to manufacture results, but to maintain connection. When we abide—remaining in His presence, obeying His Word, depending on His strength—His life flows through us, and fruit comes naturally. When we disconnect, dryness and frustration follow.

Deeper fruitfulness is not measured merely by busyness in church or ministry activities, but by the quality of Christlikeness and the lives transformed through us. Sometimes, God prunes fruitful branches—not because He is angry, but because He is preparing them for more. Pruning seasons may feel painful, but they lead to greater purity, power, and productivity. Our Lord also reminds us that apart from Him, we can do nothing. This is a call away from self-reliance and into God-dependence.

The more you abide, the less you strive. The more you lean on His wisdom and strength, the more effective and eternal your results become. Fruitfulness that brings glory to the Father always flows from intimacy with the Son. The Apostle Paul was an illustration of this truth. He says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me." He who would work more diligently, and wait more patiently, and abide more deeply in Christ, and so obtain the spiritual power he needs to do all the fruitful things.

Child of God, deeper living this month means prioritizing your secret place with God above public performance. When your root in Christ is strong, your fruit among men will be evident. Let your prayer be: “Lord, make my life truly fruitful, not just busy.”

Action Steps: Take time today to evaluate where you have been striving in your own strength rather than abiding in Christ. Identify one “pruning” area in your life—something God is cutting back or correcting—and surrender to His loving process. Set a practical rhythm (daily or weekly) that protects your abiding time—Scripture, prayer, worship—before you step into work or ministry.

Quote for the Day: “Fruitfulness is the overflow of abiding, not the reward of striving. Stay connected to the Vine, and your life will naturally bear what Heaven has planted.” — (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)

Let Us Pray: Lord Jesus, true Vine, I confess that apart from You I can do nothing. Draw me into deeper abiding—day by day, moment by moment. Prune whatever does not please You and purify my motives and methods. Let my life bear much fruit that remains and brings glory to the Father. Use me as a fruitful branch in Your vineyard. In Your powerful name I pray. Amen.
