Delighted by His Word

Daily Scripture Threshing for Friday, December 10, 2021

Today’s Text: Jeremiah 15:15-17

Key Verse: Jeremiah 15:16 (NIV): “When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, LORD God Almighty.”

The word of the Lord is manna of the soul. It is the nourishment of the Christian’s spiritual life. As new born babes desire their mothers’ milk; so do Christians crave God’s word with wholesome appetite. Jeremiah desired the word before they came. Read between the lines and you will perceive his readiness and eagerness that craves the sincere milk of the Word. Every believer that wagers desires the word of God in his life: that wants his word to come, that he may grow thereby must thirst for the same.

It’s so easy to get so thrilled and lost in the desires for mundane pleasures of life that zest for materials take away the passion for God’s from us. We all have one hobby or the other that we enjoy so much. But, as believers in Christ, let us learn from Jeremiah’s sense of rush and blush when it comes to savoring the word. Among the things that bring us happiness, nothing should be greater than the ever increasing, ever dynamic word of God. Desiring the word of God is not just Jeremiah’s secret of power and strength; but it is all prophets’ inward secret that manifest in outward explosion of fruitful prophetic ministry. The Word of God is the foundation both for godliness and fruitfulness.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for Your precious Word. Please open my heart by Your Holy Spirit that I may be taught to full experience of Your grace, and to grow daily in Your love , in Jesus’ name. Amen.
