Today’s Text: Colossians 1:9–14
Key Verse: Colossians 1:13 (KJV) — “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:”

While life improvement plans and programs are big business today: a multi-billion dollar industry. From habit-tracking apps and online coaching to journals, retreats and productivity courses; the gospel of Jesus Christ is not a matter of improvement of life; it is a divine rescue from an old dominion into a new kingdom. Before Christ, humanity is described as being under the power of darkness—a realm marked by sin, spiritual blindness, bondage, fear, accusation, and separation from God. But praise God, we are not left there. Through the saving work of Jesus Christ, God has delivered us from the dominion of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son.
To be delivered means that God has actively intervened on your behalf. You were not rescued by your own strength, wisdom, religious activity, or moral achievements. The Father reached into the darkness, broke the chains of sin, cancelled the enemy’s claim, and brought you into the light of Christ’s kingdom. You are no longer owned by the darkness that once controlled you. The past may have marked you, but it does not master you. The enemy may remember where you came from, but he cannot deny where God has brought you.
The power of darkness may have once manifested through destructive habits, ungodly desires, shame, bitterness, oppression, fear, or generational patterns. Yet, when Christ saves, He does not merely cover the problem; He establishes a new authority over your life. You have been translated—moved, transferred, and brought under the rule of the King. Your citizenship has changed. Your allegiance has changed. Your spiritual address has changed. You now belong to the kingdom of God’s dear Son.
This does not mean the believer will never face temptation, warfare, or opposition. Darkness may still attempt to influence, intimidate, and deceive, but it no longer has dominion over you. Sin is no longer your master. Fear is no longer your ruler. Satan is no longer your lord. Jesus Christ reigns over your life. Therefore, do not return to the chains from which God has freed you. Do not agree with the labels, lies, and limitations of the darkness. Walk as one who has been delivered, redeemed, forgiven, and accepted in the beloved Son.
Today, thank God for bringing you out. Whatever darkness once held you captive, the power of Christ is greater. Walk in the light of His Word, submit daily to His lordship, and refuse to give darkness a place in your heart, mind, home, or conduct. You have been transferred into the kingdom of God’s dear Son. Live as a citizen of that kingdom—with joy, holiness, confidence, and unshakable gratitude.
Action Steps: Today, thank God specifically for delivering you from the dominion of darkness. Identify any area of your life where fear, sin, shame, bitterness, or old habits are trying to regain influence, and surrender it afresh to Jesus Christ. Renounce every agreement with darkness and declare that you belong to the kingdom of God’s dear Son. Choose one practical way to walk in the light today through obedience, forgiveness, purity, prayer, or sharing the gospel with someone.
Quote for the Day: “Thick darkness may mark our past, but it has no authority over our future; because Christ has transferred us into His glorious kingdom.” — (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)
Let Us Pray: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for delivering me from the power of darkness and translating me into the kingdom of Your dear Son. I praise You because Jesus Christ has broken every chain of sin, fear, shame, and spiritual bondage over my life. Forgive me for every way I have allowed the influence of darkness to gain a place in my thoughts, choices, and conduct. Today, I renounce every work of darkness and declare that I belong completely to Jesus Christ. Help me to walk in the light of Your truth, live under the authority of Your kingdom, and reveal the transforming power of Your grace wherever I go. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen..
