Daily Scripture Threshing for Today, Tuesday, May 26, 2026
Today’s Text: Matthew 7:21–23
Key Verse: Matthew 7:23 (ESV) — “And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’”

Today’s threshing brings us to one of the most sobering words of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount. Here, the Lord warns that not everyone who speaks religious language, performs impressive works, or claims spiritual familiarity will enter the kingdom. The issue is not public appearance but personal relationship, not activity alone but obedience born of knowing Him.
Jesus is addressing people who may look qualified outwardly, yet lack true submission to His lordship. In Matthew 7:21, He says, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” The warning is not against ministry, but against empty profession. “Depart from me” is the most frightening sentence for anyone who has trusted form without fellowship, gifts without grace, or religion without righteousness.
Let this truth search your heart with holy seriousness. God is not impressed by Christian vocabulary; He desires obedience, repentance, and a life that truly knows Him. Today’s word calls us to examine whether our faith is merely outward or deeply rooted in Christ. It is possible to be near sacred things and still be far from the Savior if the heart has never truly surrendered.
This is also a call to mercy and discernment. We must not only ask whether we are known by people, but whether we are truly known by the Lord. The safest place is not public performance but humble obedience, where the soul yields to the voice of Jesus. Those who belong to Him do not merely talk about His name; they walk in His ways.
Action Steps: Search your heart before God and ask Him to reveal every area where outward religion has replaced inward devotion. Repent of any known sin and return to simple obedience. Make sure your spiritual life is built on relationship with Jesus, not just on religious appearance. Walk today with reverence, sincerity, and a clean conscience before the Lord.
Quote for the Day: “The most dangerous place is not outside the church, but inside religion without relationship.”— (Simon Olatunji #quotablequotes)
Let Us Pray: Lord Jesus, save me from empty profession and every form of lawlessness hidden beneath religious appearance. Give me a heart that truly knows You, loves You, and obeys Your will. Expose anything in me that is not pleasing to You, and lead me into sincere fellowship with You. Let my life be proof that I belong to You. — in Jesus' most glorious name. Amen.
