Daily Scripture Threshing for Monday, November 8, 2021
Today’s Text: 1 Samuel 2:1-10
Key Verse: 1 Samuel 2:1 (NRSV): “Hannah prayed and said, “My heart exults in the Lord; my strength is exalted in my God. My mouth derides my enemies, because I rejoice in my victory.”

So, just what is it that we all needs to put the knees of Satan and all his cohorts really down? I welcome you to take a moment with me and let us check out what Hannah did to really cause huge derision to her enemies’ camp. For years, she has been a victim of terribly personal and wicked domestic suffering of the worst categories. Her enemies were members of her household. They really put her down and trampled her self-image, esteem, and sense of worth. Like her, many things in our lives get to our very being and seek to put us down. But we are blessed through her story to know that we are not alone.
We can learn what did to deride those who sought to deride her. She prayed. But not quite in the same sense and way in which we generally pray. In her prayer, she asked for nothing; instead she chose a system that really gives migraine to the devil. She chose a song. She gave thanks for her life (past, her grace and victory), and thereby, in dramatic anticipation and confidence in her future, she both liberated herself, and derided those who scorn her. This is something that the devil hates to see in your life. Indeed, nothing derides him and all the forces of darkness put together like singing God’s praise when the going is actually contrary. However, mark this: the greatest blessing is not in the derision of the enemy but in the fact of our rejoicing heart. Hannah’s first line gives evidence to the holy joy that comes from worship that is deep seated in the heart. And by so doing, she not only deride her enemies; she not only rejoice; she received the blessing she has so longed for.
Quote for the Day: “Removing the wicked stain of enduring reproach cones easy when we learn the pathway of praise liberation.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, give me confidence in your grace and power; and help me walk in full resolve to trust you, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,

It is not easy to praise in adversity but Hannah did. Lord give me the grace to praise you for my past, present and my future. More blessing on you Sir
