Today’s Text: Psalm 2: 1-12
Key Verse: Psalm 2:4 (ESV): “He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision.”
Darkness is always in contention against light, and evil against good. Today, the world remembers the dark day popularly known as 9/11. It was a day in which the militant Islamic extremist network called al-Qaeda launched four coordinated terrorist attacks against our world leaving about three thousand people dead and several thousands injured. It has been 21 years since the attacks and yet the concomitant security tremors has not healed and our deliberate attempts of darkness to deride the light has not ceased. But the Psalmist pictures God in this text as the Sovereign Judge who sits upon the heavenly tribunal, weighing the actions of men. Jesus is that king of heaven and of the whole earth. All powers are given unto Him, and nothing unseats Him from His throne.
Earthly kings and queens die, but nothing moves Jesus from His dominion. He alone reserves all powers in heaven and on earth, and one word from His mouth can destroy all His enemies. That is why He can only laugh when they imagine vain things against Him and His anointed. And indeed, we can too. They plot in vain. So, cheer up you sons and daughters of Zion: “For there is no magic curse against Jacob, Nor is there any divination against Israel; At the proper time it shall be said to Jacob And to Israel, what God.” Be confident and comforted that every enemies’ attempt against your soul is fruitless this day and always. Darkness may seem to thrive while tears endure for the night; but joy comes in the morning—that, is the derision of darkness. Smile!
Quote for the Day: “The children of the King who rules from heaven can also laugh at the schemes of darkness when they know that their father is able to disappoint all foes with perfect ease.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, please grant me peace of mind and calm my troubled heart when it trembles like a turbulent sea, and I can't seem to find my balance. Help me to quit all worries that make me stumble. Give me the strength and clarity of mind to find peace and walk in my purpose and the very path you've laid out for me — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
With all my Love and Prayers,
