Daily Scripture Threshing for Thursday, March 10, 2022
Today’s Text: Matthew 4:1-11
Key Verse: Matthew 4:7 (ESV): “Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’”

It is so easy for us humans to get jolted into hard times that impose some negative feelings upon us: Such feelings as, God is far from me, has forgotten or forsaken me, or is not on my side, etc. One season and reason or the other, a natural man would be tempted to think that way. Ask yourself: Have I ever or never felt like God is not being fair the way things are turning out in the course of my life? If you have, asking sincere questions does not surprise or disappoint God. He already knows our feebleness and limitations. Indeed, asking sincere questions always help us realize our humanness as well as aid our learning process. Even our Lord Jesus, in the days of His flesh, asked: “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” — the Aramaic form of “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Matt 27:46).
So, let us not deny our realities. Let us not pretend our humanness. However, let us look unto Jesus’ example when Satan tempted Him. Three times He was tempted; and in all three times, He found answers in the word of God. Not only will we find answers there too, but we shall find solace there. During this difficult moment in our world, and in all seasons of temptations,Jesus’ response should be the model for ours. God’s word is always man’s foundation for victory and comfort. Jesus clearly demonstrated how man should be when faced with temptations. Israel was faced with temptations when they wandered in the wilderness for forty years; and Moses had cautioned them with those exact words quoted and applied by Jesus. If and when the test table turns on you, you must remember also that you should “not put the Lord your God to the test.’”
Quote for the Day: “Any victory in a Christian’s mind is disastrous enough to every advance of Satan. That’s why we must guard the loins of our minds with God’s truth.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, during these dangerous days of our planet, when different signs of the end are caving in upon us; help us renew our trust in Your care, love, and refuge, and let the joy You give continue to be our strength — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
With all my Love and Prayers,
