Today's Text: John 17:1-5
Key Verse: John 17:3 (NIV): "Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent."

Following the death of Adolf Hitler, the entire nation of Germany was faced with the dire need for national reconstruction. It was also that time that Karl Barth, one of Germany's greatest theologian of all time returned from exile in Switzerland. It was such a difficult time in every sector; but reconstruction was the only necessary and reasonable logic. So, while the noise of busy cranes and earthmovers reved in the background, Barth started to teach a class of war-weary youth about God. But it must be remarked that his very first statement as he began was “I believe in God.”
When life seems hopeless and we are surrounded by nothing but chaos, we have no other better means than to believe in God. It is no accident that the words, “I believe in God.” were also the first words of The Apostles’ Creed. They are not just basic affirmation of the Christian Church but basic to our faith. Belief in one true and living God is, in fact, the foundation from which we view all things in time and eternity. There's no rebuilding any nation or life if we ignore faith in God. That is why no matter how we tried to build a good world; the more our efforts crumble and create more chaos.
We need a firm foundation of faith in God to navigate life's challenges. Jesus is the surest foundation for life and eternity. "For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ" (1 Corinthians 3:11). The Bible is clear about the importance of knowing the only true God and Jesus Christ as the one sent by God. "This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent" (John 17:3). To experience reconstruction, and build with eternal value, we must put our trust in Jesus Christ, the Lord and the one, true, and living God" (Hebrews 11:6).
Action Steps: Affirm, declare and prioritize your faith in God. Seek and focus on building eternal value and prioritizing His will in your life. Study the Bible and learn more about the one, true, and living God, and His plan for your life.
Quote for the Day: "When we ignore God, the best of human efforts will crumble in the long run and be exposed to have no lasting value." (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)
Let Us Pray: Dear Heavenly Father, help me to prioritize my relationship with You and build with eternal value. Give me wisdom and guidance as I navigate life's challenges, and help me to know You more deeply — in Jesus's most glorious name. Amen.
