Daily Scripture Threshing for Thursday, November 18, 2021
Today’s Text: Psalm 19:1 -10
Key Verse: Psalm 19:1 (KJV): “To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.”
You must have heard about the upcoming lunar event of November 19 2021. Yes, tomorrow’s partial lunar eclipse, peaking at 3:03 a.m. CST. Astronomers suggest it will be the longest partial lunar eclipse of the century, as well as the longest partial lunar eclipse ever witnessed in more than 500 years. By the way, an eclipse is an astronomical event that occurs when an astronomical object is temporarily obscured, by passing into the shadow of another body or by having another body pass between it and the viewer. Whatever it is, majority of people seem really not to care whatever it is, but they just find watching the eclipse so much fun. Of course, it is indeed a pretty thing to see a blood-red moon.
However, some take it as a zodiac sign: something that influences them really hard, change their mood and impacts their lifestyle and destiny. They think it will give way to real transformation of emotional energy that unsettles some people, while helping others to reclaim their portion. All these are mere speculations, misinterpretation and misapplication of something that the Bible already described as God’s deep spiritual mystery which declares the glory of God’s wonder in the world. Don’t let star readers or hunters delude or bamboozle you. Our lives are in the hands of the Lord; not in new moons, full moons, or red, half and crested moons. The firmament, Sun, Moon, Earth, and orderly succession of day and night in their place are great utterances and testimony to the knowledge, grandeur, unspeakable creative power of God. They point us to God, not themselves. According to today’s text, they tell us that science is not in charge. God is. They declare the glory of God. Do you know God? Why not allow these creative signs to stir your spirit into knowing, loving and serving God.
Quote for the Day: “God’s wisdom, power, and goodness is loudly declared by His creation so much that no ungodly person is, or shall be, left with a single excuse.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you for revealing yourself and mighty power in the world. O Lord I desire that You use me as a veritable means of revealing You love, light and glory, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D
