Elijahs of God and the God of Elijah

Daily Scripture Threshing for Sunday, April 19 2020

Today’s Text: 1 Kings 17:1-7

Key Verse: 1 Kings 17:4 (NIV): "Drink from the brook and eat what the ravens bring you, for I have commanded them to bring you food.”

During the days when Baal apostasy was at its height, there was an Elijah of God who stood tall for God against his generation’s errors. It was thus necessary that the God of Elijah should also show up, working sufficient signs to confirm both His word and His man.The God of Elijah never spares the wicked, and also He never fails His men.

When Elijah calls for a famine in the land, God honors his word; when Ahab sought his life, He hides and refreshes him by the brook Cherith during the drought. God fed him through ravens during the severity of famine. And on the great day of sacrifice, God sent His fire. Today’s Elijahs are those who know their God, and depend on him. The God of Elijah is alive. He is our God and He will undertake for us.

Quote for the Day: "The same power that shut up the heavens could surely open it. All God requires us for us to trust Him.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Lord, help me to be found dependable in my generation, in Jesus name. Amen.

With all my love and prayer,
