Today’s Text: 1 Chronicles 4:1-10

Key Verse: 1 Chronicles 4:10 (KJV): “And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.”

The example of Jabez and the likes of Job are foreshadow of the life of victory that is available to us in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who is sovereign over demons and all forces of evil. Even in the days of His flesh, His sovereignty over the forces of evil was in no doubt. Those who trust in Him are saved kept evil. The same Jesus who delivered Simon Peter, the outspoken disciple from the devil's sifting as wheat is the same Lord who delivered Job from the predicament that Satan put him through.

However, as God’s faithful servants and children we must realize that exemption from evil does not mean we will not go through tribulations and trials. These are to be expected as part of our Christian life. Jesus warned that we should expect hardships the world. But His promise are even surer to us. He promises to be with us and protect us so that the power of evil will never be able to destroy our faith and hope (John 10:27–28 and Hebrews 7:25).

Today, God wants you to know that whatever appears as an unpromising livestyle can be changed over. If you believe, regardless of your current situation, will see the glory of God. Jabez's mother had written him off. "This child of sorrow would have no honourable life." She thought. But God took exception to that. You too may have started out in weakness and smallness; you may be groping in darkness and sowing in tears, but if you cry to God, not only will He change your insignificant life, but He will prosper you.

Quote for the Day: “God’s favor always answers to man’s cry of desperation.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer:  O Lord God that answered Jabez, bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast— in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,
