Today's Text: Daniel 6:10-24
Key Verse: Daniel 6:22 (RSV): "My God sent his angel and shut the lions’ mouths, and they have not hurt me, because I was found blameless before him; and also before you, O king, I have done no wrong.”"

Daniel, a faithful servant of God in the Persian empire, was targeted by jealous officials who tricked King Darius into making a law forbidding prayer to any god but hinself, the king. We all face malicious people in different ways and levels, who seek to take us down or out because of jealous anger. And we are blessed to have a God who defends His own regardless of the height of wicked plot against us. We love this part don't we? Of course, we do! The other part we must also think deeply about is the part to be played by us in order to enjoy the full taste of such divine protection.
The edict was fierce and against him but he continued to pray to God, with his windows open. By this, he layed us an example of unwavering commitment. He also taught us that serving God does not mean we are immune from earthly consequences. He was thrown into a den of lions as punishment, but God sent an angel to shut the lions' mouths. God is always faithful and committed to preventing evil from harming his men. So, Daniel emerged unharmed, and the same hand that saved him moved the king to realize his (Daniel's) innocence and to punish the accusers by feeding them to the lions.
We all face "lions' dens" in our lives—situations that feel insurmountable. It might be a difficult job, a challenging relationship, an illness, or a crisis of faith. Daniel's experience teaches us that when we remain faithful and courageous, even in the face of these "lions," God is with us. He can, and often does, shut the mouths of our adversaries and bring us through unharmed. God is faithful and has ability to deliver His people. Daniel's story teaches us the importance of unwavering faith in the face of opposition. We serve the God that has power that delivers His own from the folly of human pride and jealousy. It is a prefigure of Christ's victory over death and the power that faith in Him weilds in overcoming even the most daunting challenges of our lives. Also, we must grow a consistent prayer life, and a deep and unwavering faith in God. We must trust God's sovereignty, ultimate authority and power to intervene in our matters and protect us from human lions. We can face adversities by faith even when opposition and threats are real.
Action Steps: Reflect on a "lion's den" you are currently facing or have faced in the past. How can you apply Daniel's example of faith and courage? Ask yourself if you are truly prioritizing your faith above all else, and if not, what steps can you take to do so?
Quote for the Day: "Our unwavering faith and trust in Christ protects us from harm in the lions' den daily. " (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)
Let Us Pray: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the example of Daniel's unwavering faith. Oh, please help us to stand firm in our trust in You, even when we face difficult situations. Give us the courage to face our "lions' dens" and the conviction that You will always be with us, protecting and guiding us through. Help us, dear Lord, to always seek to glorify You in all we do — in Jesus's most glorious name. Amen.
