Daily Scripture Threshing for Friday, April 17, 2020
Today’s Text: Mark 4:1-20
Key Verse: Mark 4:8 (NIV): "Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, some multiplying thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times.”
You possibly heard of how William Carey, the father of the modern missionary movement, arrived India in 1793 to evangelize the natives. For weeks, months, and years, he preached faithfully but not a single convert to show. Like you and I, Carey faces the urge to quit.
Friend, do you feel like a failed farmer whose hope is constantly blasted by weeds instead of good harvest? Do you feel chocked in your labor for the Lord? Do you feel like the shower in this parable, facing all kinds of struggles that beckons on you to quit? No. Don’t you ever quit. Hope in God: He can make the few seeds that fell on good soil to spring up, grew and multiply.
Quote for the Day: "whether on the seeds that failed to spring up at all; or on those that sprang up, but soon withered away; and the ones that sprang up and grew, but yielded no fruit; and even on the seeds that sprang up, grew, and brought forth fruit—the fruitfulness of the sewer is never in question.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, when I seem to falter and fail, please remind me that You uphold me and You will help me in Jesus name. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, PhD
