Full Reward for Faithful Service

Daily Scripture Threshing for Sunday, June 26, 2022

Today’s Text: Matthew 20:1-16

Key Verse: Matthew 20:9 (ESV): “The workers who were hired about the eleventh hour came and each received a denarius.”

Western system of work time-clock has been practiced for decades. It helps employers to effectively monitor employees’ daily life cycle at work. But since time is all it determines, how do you measure the effectiveness, efficiency and faithfulness of your worker on the clock? Brethren, in the economy of heaven, time clock is completely irrelevant. God, our Paymaster rewards sincere conscience and faithfulness in His kingdom business. We have all been called into the vineyard of Jesus where faithfulness alone is the requirement for success. Indeed, it is the success itself. And, the evening is approaching when all of us, laborers, shall be called in to the presence of the Paymaster to receive our reward. People only murmur on earth; there shall be no murmuring in heaven because all things shall be made open and all works tested. Some people would have served for decades with halfhearted commitment while there will be newcomers who barely plucked off their feet from hell, but who served their little time with the whole of their hearts. This parable spurs us to faithfulness. We must never risk our eternal reward because of transient matters. There are no time clocks in heaven; only hearts for the Lord’s work shall be rewarded.
