Get Yourself Ready

Daily Scripture Threshing for Today, Saturday, December 27, 2025

Exodus 12:1–11 (ESV)

Key Verse: Exodus 12:11 (ESV) — “In this manner you shall eat it: with your belt fastened, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. And you shall eat it in haste. It is the Lord’s Passover.”

Standing on the threshold of a new year is like Israel standing on the threshold of Exodus. The night before deliverance, God did not merely promise change; He prescribed preparation. Every good thing is preceeded by preparation. We have been told of 5 P's: Prior Preparation Prevents Poor Performance. By God’s instructions before Exodus, belts were to be fastened, sandals strapped, and staffs in hand. Rvery detail of posture was a prophetic picture of readiness. The message was clear: when God moves, His people must not be caught unprepared.

As we get ourselves ready for crossover night, we are deliberate because biblical readiness is not passive waiting. It is faith-filled positioning. The Lord did not tell Israel to sit casually and see what happens the next day; He instructed them to eat in haste, ready to move as soon as His word was fulfilled. In the same way, preparing for the coming year in revelation is more than writing resolutions. Yes, write those, but know that it is about aligning heart, habits, and house with what God has spoken and is about to unveil.

Revelation always carries responsibility. When God reveals, He expects response. Just as Noah prepared an ark before the rain and John the Baptist prepared hearts before the Christ, we are called to prepare our lives before the unfolding of a new season. The coming year is not a blank calendar; it is a divine assignment waiting for your obedience. Readiness is your “yes” before you see the full script.

Get yourself ready in the Word. The year ahead will demand more than opinions and emotions; it will require foundations anchored in Scripture. Feed on God’s promises, meditate on His instructions, and let His voice be louder than the noise of culture and fear. A heart saturated with revelation will not be shaken by the surprises of a new year.

Get yourself ready in consecration. Israel had to put away leaven, a symbol of sin and mixture, before stepping into Passover and beyond. In the same way, this is the time to release offenses, repent of compromise, and relinquish anything that dulls your spiritual sensitivity. The cleaner the vessel, the clearer the guidance. The coming year belongs to those whose hearts are fully His.

Get yourself ready in obedience. Partial obedience cannot carry the weight of full-year purpose. What instruction did God give you in this ending year that you have postponed, explained away, or delayed? Finish what He told you to start. Obedience today is the seed of clarity tomorrow. When your steps align with His will, your path will align with His wonders.

Get yourself ready in expectation. The Israelites were not told to leave Egypt “if” God opened a way; they were told to be ready “when” He did. Expectation is faith dressed for departure. Refuse to drag the disappointments of the past year into the doorway of the next. Lift your eyes, stretch your faith, and anticipate divine surprises, strategic connections, and holy opportunities.

To prepare for the coming year is to agree with God that your future is not random but redeemed. Every day ahead is a page on which He longs to write testimonies of grace, power, and purpose. As you tighten your belt of truth, stand in the shoes of the gospel of peace, and grip the staff of His promises, you are quietly declaring: “Lord, whenever You say move, I am ready.” Let the closing days of this year be your spiritual dress rehearsal for the opening scenes of the next.

Action Steps: Today, take time to prepare intentionally. Examine your heart for any “leaven” to surrender. Write down the last clear instructions God gave you and commit to act on them. Set specific times for prayer and Word engagement for the coming year. Dedicate your goals, your calendar, and your relationships to the Lord. Let your preparation be worship in motion — not just what you plan, but how you position yourself. Remember, readiness is not pressure; it is partnership with God’s purpose. Get ready for what grace is about to unfold.

Quote for the Day: “When revelation lights your path, preparation becomes your priority and obedience becomes your lifestyle.” — (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)

Let Us Pray: Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for leading me through this year and into the one ahead. As I stand on the edge of a new season, help me to get myself ready for all You have prepared. Teach me to align my heart with Your Word, my habits with Your will, and my expectations with Your promises. Remove every distraction, cleanse every compromise, and strengthen my obedience. May the coming year be a journey of walking in step with Your revelation. All these I pray, Lord Jesus, in Your precious name, Amen.
