Today’s Text: 2 Kings 2:10-22
Key Verse: 2 Kings 2:21 (AMP) — “Then he went out to the spring and threw the salt into it, saying, "This is what the LORD says: 'I have healed this water. Never again will it cause death or make the land unproductive.'"

Jericho, in the days of Elisha was a beautiful city, situatedon on a very prosperous side of river Jordan. Remember that when the spies set out to view the Promised Land, whatever they saw in Jericho sufficed them the prosperity of Canaan. Yet, despite this rich history and amazingly beautiful habitation, the people of Jericho were not happy. For though the city was well founded on a rich plain, their water was a source of sorrow. And unfortunately, whenever a fertile land is waterred by poisonous water; men still graple to cry.
Do you find yourself an a plain of contradiction: a situation in which what you have is not what you bargained for? Is your life is not bringing forth fruits matching to your situation? Probably you have tried several things, and you are just not where you are supposed to be. What is that situation in your life that seems like you are living or laboring on a bad source, or a barren land? Many live in a land considered to be a place of the golden fleas, but all the opportunities simply elude them; and all they get is the opposite. Such people live and look gorgeously on the outside; but are pathetic and wretched in the inside.
When men of Jericho were tired of their situation: they came to the man of God who then led them to the Lord. In their context, crying out to the man of God is deeper than going to just a representative. It was an acknowledgement of the Yahweh, who sent them. Today, to trace the source of our emptiness in the midst of plenty, we must cry out to Jesus. Whatever may be the source of the problem; Jesus is the true type of the Spring. With Him, not just the broken cisterns, but even the broken hearted can be healed. Whether the cursed water in our life is situational or spiritual; even if it is the problem of sin, Jesus deals with every issue from its root. Let us go out to Him. He is the spring of life.
Quote for the Day: “When a man’s source is compromised; his life begins to manifest moral, social and spiritual fruits that are contrary.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: O Lord, visit the very source of my life and deal with the very root of my problems, in Jesus's name. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
