God Calls Us to Worship

Daily Scripture Threshing for Sunday, April 16, 2023

Today’s Text: Psalm 100:1-5

Key Verses: Psalm 100:2 (NIV): “Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.”

Nothing turns our grave, gloomy, austere, countenance into sunny smiles like yielding God’s invitation to worship. Times are tough: we all have our share of disfavor, pain, stress, struggles and disappointments. But there is always an unexplainable uncommon joyful noise that is deeper than religious feelings. It is the blessed spiritual experience of men and women who avail themselves of the bled joy of serving the Lord with gladness. Everybody is invited to this unfathomable. Unfortunately, not everybody responds.

Life is bare enough if uninspiring and sickening moments. Many homes and lives are destitute of beauty and brightness intended by God. But how blessed are we to ever be invited to give up our depressing distractions and rather embrace God’s uplifting presence. It’s our most precious powerful opportunity to be invited to “worship the LORD with gladness; [and] come before him with joyful songs.” This gladness is so rare because we let our sense of sin, the mystery of life, and the several noise of earthly sorrows stop us from yielding God’s call to worship.

Prayer: Dear Lord, today I recall your faithfulness. Thank you that you walk with me everyday, and you are with me in each moment. Thank you that your promises are true. Please help me to walk away from what's not best for me and obey Your call to worship and serve You— in Jesus Christ's name. Amen.
