Today’s Text: Psalm 27:13
Key Verse: “I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” — Psalm 27:13 (KJV)

Today’s threshing turns our hearts to the goodness of the Lord, which sustains the believer when strength is failing and hope is under pressure. Though David did not speak from a place of ease, he was surrounded by enemies, uncertainty, and soul weariness, but he spoke in confidence because he anchors himself in one great expectation: to see, by faith, the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. This is not wishful thinking, but an active faith-filled confession that God is faithful, able and present even while the battle rages on.
This entire Psalm is a psalm of trust, and its verse 13 in particular stands as a testimony that faith survives because it expects God’s goodness to show up in real life, not only in heaven. David does not deny danger; instead, he declares that the goodness of the Lord is stronger than despair. To “believe to see” is to trust God before the evidence appears, to wait for His mercy to manifest, and to hold onto hope when circumstances seem delayed. The goodness of God is not a vague sentiment; it is His active kindness, protection, provision, and favor toward His people.
This truth is deeply needed in seasons when prayer feels unanswered and burdens seem heavy. Many believers faint not because God has failed, but because they stop expecting His goodness in the midst of the wait. Yet the Lord remains good in the valley, on the road, in the storm, and in the long night of testing. When we behold His goodness by faith, our hearts are strengthened, our minds steadied, and our courage renewed. The goodness of the Lord becomes the reason we keep going.
Child of God, this is our reminder that the Lord has not forgotten us. His goodness is not delayed by our difficulty, and our present struggle is not proof of His absence. This Psalm offers us a lifeline. Like David, we too can declare confidence — not in what we see, but in Who we know. We can enjoy all of God right here, right now. Not just in heaven someday, but in our health today, in your family this week, in our finances this month. That's what “In the land of the living” means. God’s goodness is not a future rumor; it is a present reality. So, keep believing, keep praying, and keep expecting to see His mercy in the land of the living. The same God who sustained David will sustain you, and His goodness will yet speak in your situation.
Action Steps: Identify one area where discouragement has tried to weaken your faith, and bring it before the Lord in prayer. Write down three ways you have already seen the goodness of God in your life. Choose one promise of God to meditate on today until hope rises again in your heart. Encourage someone else by reminding them that God is still good and still at work.
Quote for the Day: “You may not yet see the answer, but when you believe in the goodness of the Lord, hope learns how to stand again.” — (Simon Olatunji #quotablequotes)
Let Us Pray: Lord, I thank You for Your goodness that never fails and never changes. When my heart is tempted to faint, strengthen me to believe that I will yet see Your goodness in the land of the living. Renew my hope, steady my faith, and help me trust You through every delay and every battle. Let Your kindness surround me and Your mercy speak over my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
