God’s “Let” Diary (Part 11) — That Which You Let Remain

Daily Scripture Threshing for Thursday, June 18, 2020

Today’s Text: Numbers 33:50-56

Key Verses: Numbers 33:55 (KJV): “But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell.”

After gaining victory over Sihon, Og, and Midian; the people of Israel were ready to cross Jericho and take possession of Canaan, God’s destined and promised inheritance to them. However, to enjoy the good of the land to the fullest and in full rest; it is great wisdom and important for them to totally take out all remnants of Canaan — its inhabitants, molten images and to quite pluck down all their high places — so that no little leaven of any carry over or unfinished business may leaven up whole lump of sorrows for them.

For our meditation today, God wants us to learn from this divine “that which you let remain of them shall be pricks in your eye.” He wants us to beware of the fact that the danger and liability of imperfect conquest in our lives are always unlimited. Our conquest of the territories and dominion of sin must be total. Compromises and partial surrenders are inimical to our spiritual growth and wellbeing. The moment we turn from sin unto God, He cares about all things pertaining to our lives in union with Him. He wants us to get rid of undiscerning pity for unholyassociations. He wants all them that name the name of the Lord to turn from iniquities (2 Tim 2:19). He wants us to be rid of lust. He forbids us from unequal yoke with unbelievers and materials.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I seek Your help in battling temptations. Cleanse my mind, my body, my soul, of all lustful desires, and deliver me from all deceitful and unholy alliances, in Jesus name. Amen.
