God’s “Let” Diary (Part 125) — Let Us Straitly Threaten Them

Daily Scripture Threshing for Tuesday, October 27, 2020

Today’s Text: Acts 2:22-36

Key Verses: Acts 2:36 (KJV) — “But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.”

Since he beginning of time, conspiracy has been part of the structure of the human society. Men consoired against men; and if possible they conspire against God. But thereis is no machination against God, and neither is there an enchantment against His people. We serve an unstoppable God. Pharaoh could not stop His people from going forth. Jericho wall could not stop Israel from passing over to the promised land; and neither Jordan nor the Red Sea could prevent them from crossing. Athaliah, the royal.product of ungodly marriage between King Ahab and Queen Jezebel vowed to wipe out the roya seed if David to prevent the covenant promise of the Messiah; the Roman rulers and soldiers nailed Jesus Christ to the cross, placed Him in borrowed tomb, and sealed it with heavy rock. But still, nothing can stop God.

The rulers of the people, the Sanhedrin and chiefs of the Jewish Synagogue object and evidently sought to stop the preaching of the gospel. They had thought that after killing the Lord, their would be no resurrection. They had thought that His disciples which once fled will always be on the run. However, when the conspirators became all wrong; they sought and threatened to deter them from preaching publicly in the name of Jesus. God sends this admonition today to strengthen and encourage someone who is going through any opposition to be strengthened because no scheme of man can threaten or stop God.

Quote for the Day: “The enemies of God's kingdom would not and could not mention the name of Christ; not just because if indignation and contempt; but because of terror.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: O Lord, strengthen me and give me the courage to stand strong for you in the face of stern opposition, in Jesus name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,

Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, PhD
