Today’s Text: Acts 4:18-31
Key Verses: Acts 4:21 (KJV) — “So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done.”

The Church after Pentecost, otherwise called the First Century Church kept so close reputation of Christlikenes in such a way that today's Church must return to learn from. We need to find out just what the early Christian folks did to strike such a close similitude to the life of Christ. The Bible offers a clear picture of Christ's personal testimony of how ”the prince of this world comes, and has nothing in me.” (John 14:30) The earliest disciples of Jesus understood how important it is for them to follow their Lord's example. They watched Him lead such a life of integrity that proved Him through and true. They knew that there was no angle from which He was not tried; yet the princes of evil found no single basis to accuse Him. He was hungry but taught us the discipline that man shall not live by bread alone. He wanted to save the whole world -- that was why He came; but He would not take it by bowing to the devil. The praise of men is soothing; but He chose not to be flattered as the good man. He never gave or offered unto Ceasar what is God's or to God what is Ceasar’s.
The earliest apostles must have set their Lord, Savior and Master before them so much that those who saw them thought they were little Christs. They qualified for such reputation and was convinced in the efficacy of their calling. Only men of integrity could speak with such audacity against brute and perverse government of Roman as they claimed: ”We cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.” Our age, I believe needs a church or a minister who could say that before our present corrupt government. Unfortunately, what we see today from our pulpit and pews are the songs of praise of men because we lack the reputation that stays clear from kickbacks and selfish opportunist pursuits. Whereas, we have been sent as doves to this world’s brute beasts; but we have been given hearts that are as bold as lions. But only if and when they find nothing in us that we could safely confront any evil or the antagonistic power thereof.
Quote for the Day: “We have been called to a life in which nothing odious or flammable is found within us.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, please strengthen me by your Holy Spirit to resist any seductions of this age that seeks to weaken my testimony and confidence You, in Jesus name I pray. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
