Daily Scripture Threshing for Sunday, November 8, 2020
Today’s Text: Romans 12:4-8
Key Verses: Romans 12:7 (KJV) — “Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;.”
As long as Christ is not divided against Himself, believers in Him are meant to be united in Him. This teaching is so key to our witness to the resurrected Christ. Our Lord did not treat it less: that was why He prayed that we may be one as He and the Father are one. He also explained that having love for one another gives evidence to the fact of being His disciples. As such, Christians cannot be isolated units. In spite of our many parts, gifts, callings and assemblies, we must unite as joint-heirs with Christ and as members in sympathy with one another so that when one suffers, all suffer; and when one rejoices, we all do the same.
This is the only life that is adequate and consistent with our life and calling as Christians. We are never called to competition; rather, we are called to cooperation. The apostle explains that our various gifts and calling in Christ have been bestowed upon us severally so that, together, all of us shall promote one another as one body. The happiness and welfare of the body is the joy of each member. Apostle Paul used the organic structure of the human body to drive this salient spiritual truth home: Like we are called to be one body with Christ, we are also called to ensure that our connection results in genuine cooperation to function as one body. Let us quit segregated lifestyle. Let us act as become people of God before this world. By this, they will know that we are Christ’s disciples.
Quote for the Day: “Regardless of how differently we are skinned, shaped, called, gifted and endowed, we are all called to unity of heart and purpose.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, You have given us the glory that the Fathe gave You; help us so that we may be one as You are one — Teach us the secret of You in us and the Father in You—so that we may be brought to complete unity, in Jesus' name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
