God’s “Let” Diary (Part 139) — Let Us No Be the Judge

Writer: Dr. Simon OlatunjiDr. Simon Olatunji

Daily Scripture Threshing for Monday, Novemberl 16, 2020

Today’s Text: Romans 14: 1-12

Key Verses: Romans 14:5 (KJV) — “One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

Religion has been said to be an opium of the people; but Christianity is all about relationship. It is relationship because it influences a man and touches deeper than his skin. It touches the very fiber of the human soul, and determines what he does, loves, allows and pursues. Anyone who truly comes into relationship with Christ becomes fully yielded to Christ and gives up all slavish entanglements including religion itself. The reason is simple: Jesus Christ does not call anyone into religion. He calls us into relationship with Him.

Apostle Paul had to deal with religious people in Rome, Colossae and Galatia. People who thought they are being saved by religious observance and would rather adopt or embrace the legality of Judaism (the Jewish religion) rather than the good news of salvation through Christ. They were prepared to take on themselves the heavy burdens of the Mosaic law rather than the light yoke of Jesus Christ. This meditation is to help us put an end to any outward observances that cannot save anyone but only lead to hypocritical religiosity. Such is of no avail. We are called out of works unto grace, however, we are to live in such a way that our freedom from legalism does not become an occasion for libertinism.

Quote for the Day: Cultural Christianity gives no regard to myths of human sentiments: so that it does not matter wether it is Grecian, African, Gentile or American.

Prayer: Dear Lord, please strengthen my faith and help me grow my trust and confidence in what is true — in your truth. Help me focus on true worship, in spirit and truth; not on what is seen, but that which is unseen, in Jesus' mighty name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,
