God’s “Let” Diary (Part 13b) — Let His Hands Suffice Him

Daily Scripture Threshing for Monday, June 22, 2020

Today’s Text: Deuteronomy 33:1-7

Key Verses: Deuteronomy 33:7 (KJV): “Hear, Lord, the voice of Judah, and bring him unto his people: Let his hands be sufficient for him; and be thou an help to him from his enemies.”

We meditated on the essence and mystery of Judah yesterday; today, we’re looking at a second dimension to this text. The Lord wants all His praying and praising people to get resolved about the fact that sufficiency and rest comes from Him alone. A careful look at this priestly petition suggests that Judah may have been at a state of distress at this time. The text is silent about the specifics; but he may be troubled over his duty to other tribes. Nothing drains a man better than when he feels helpless and insufficient. But if it is that he is buffeted by battles for the nation, by God’s help only can he safely return from his battles. If scattered among nations; God’s help will bring him home.

We are the Judahs of God today. Our help comes from the Lord, who made heavens and the earth — the Lord who knows that our hands are really scarcely sufficient for us. He is our help at this lockdown moment, and at all times. The hands of Judah was insufficient for him at the return from Babylon (Numbers 26:22); but the Lord helped him. His hands was insufficient in the battle against Moab and Ammon; but the Lord helped him (2 Chronicles 20:13) — even at many desperate moments, but God is always Judah’s present help in times of trouble. Make the Lord your source of help, strength and sufficiency as a new week unfolds before you. We wield greater power in our life when our dependence is upon God.

Quote for the Day: "That man is assured of sufficient grace, who has the Maker of all things with him, by him and for him.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: O LORD, hear my cry and bring me to my people. Strengthen my hands to defend my cause, and be my help against my foes, in Jesus name. Amen.

With all my love and prayer,
